The standard requirement for certified nursing assistant training is 75 hours of classroom instruction and laboratory, and at least 16 hours of clinicals. It is during the latter when you will actually get to put into practice all theoretical learned during class.

The internship or clinicals are arranged as part of the curriculum. If you can manage more hours in this portion, the more skilled you will become and the better prepared you are for both the certification exam and actual employment.

CNA schools committed to producing highly qualified graduates will give you all the necessary skills to become an asset to any employer after school. CNA certification classes is an investment and you'll need to spend at least a couple of hundred for your certified nursing training. However, there are certain schools charging around a thousand dollars for their program. Without financial aid, this amount can be very steep for a short-term course. So, why take up this kind of expensive training?

If you can get additional certifications from these programs, then your tuition would be well worth it. When researching prospective schools, make sure to find out if you learn other skills that will also lead to certification.

This could be for CPR and first aid, BBP (blood borne pathogens, phlebotomy, or ECG operation. These are highly valuable skills that will raise your market value even if you're just entering the workforce and could mean a higher certified nursing assistant salary. Employers are increasingly looking to hire people who have well-rounded education, so armed with these added credentials means increasing your chances of landing good jobs.

While jobs in the health care industry are many, especially in nursing homes, long-term care facilities, assisted-care facilities and home health care services, it's still tough to compete for jobs, whether you're in Arizona or California. So your best bet to increase the chance of being gainfully employed is to get the best training.

Most CNA schools like Delaware County Community College in Philadelphia offer a Certificate in Nursing Assistant. In Chicago, Illinois, the Harold Washington College has its Associate of Applied Science - Nursing Assistant, one of the few schools that offer a degree for this skill-based profession.
